Lot 488 Japanese Type 32/M1889 Cavalry Sword

Machined blade with Katana profile. Saw service Russo-Japanese war, WW1, and WW2. 32.5" blade., single edge with long fuller below the flat spine. Later "Ko" pattern production without leather finger loop. Steel D guard has a checkered steel back strap and dove head pommel. Checkered wooden grips. Guard marked with either Tokyo, or Kokura arsenal having the 4 intertwined circles. Steel scabbard with locking catch. Mismatched number on the scabbard. Overall very good, with surface rust on the scabbard. Original Japanese sword, not the Chinese copy.
